I have a Youtube playlist where I read aloud from 19th Century American literary texts, and I thought I’d share those here. In addition to reading the texts, I add my own commentary and analysis. I hope you enjoy them.

Under Construction
Hello Everyone,
LELA House is undergoing some construction, and I wanted you to know!
What’s changing?
I am reframing LELA House to better reflect how I serve women. That means LELA House will be an umbrella for various educational enrichment opportunities for women to explore life, learning, literacy, and creativity through coaching, courses, and connection. What’s staying the same?
I will continue to blog on the website LELA House, my posts will still speak to women on education journeys, and you can still comment on my posts. I will continue to offer 1:1 life and writing coaching. And I will continue to offer courses that allow you to explore your life through various types of reading and writing. The courses and other offerings you’ve come to enjoy through LELA House will remain, but they will be categorized within different enrichment tracks, so now you will be able to consider different enrichment tracks that suit your needs. Why the change?
When I was in my early 20s, God tasked me with starting a school, more specifically a college that didn’t operate like any other college I had ever seen. Well, in the past quarter of a century, I’ve prayed and planned and dreamed, but I never started a school. I did, however, begin LELA House. I feel God strongly guided me to create LELA House, but until now, it felt like a bunch disparate services that didn’t tie together. Then God told me LELA House is my first step at starting a school. I’m reimagining LELA House as a virtual educational enrichment community where women explore life, learning, literacy, and creativity through coaching, courses, and connection.
Through LELA House, I will offer multiple enrichment tracks where learners can avail themselves of self-directed online courses, virtual group courses that meet at specific times, virtual community events, and virtual 1:1 coaching.
Potential Enrichment Tracks
- Writing Nonfiction
- Journaling
- Inner Exploration
- Reading
- Community Connection
Within each track, I will offer various courses, programs, and/or coaching. Some things to look forward to include a personal narrative and memoir course, reading and writing circles, monthly community events, and, of course, 1:1 coaching.
I plan to launch this reframed LELA House in May 2021, but I will begin building it immediately. You’ll definitely see changes on my website and on my course platform.
I have a lot of work to do to launch this reframed LELA House, but I believe it will serve you better.
If you are a woman who is a lifelong learner, seeks to understand yourself and create space for yourself and others in life, and enjoys reading and writing, then LELA House is the right space for you, and now is the right time for you to explore all of the possibilities that exist for you within LELA House.
LELA House is a safe place to take your dreams and not fear judgment. It’s a space where it is ok for you to be fully yourself. It’s a place where you’ll learn the endless opportunities that exist within you. At LELA House, you’ll discover your unique design, become critically engaged, and transform your community.I have so much more to say about the upcoming changes, but that will have to wait for another blog post. I’m so excited to see where God leads and to serve you to the fullest. I pray you’re as excited as I am.
To stay up-to-date with all of the changes, stay tuned for more blog posts and sign up to receive LELA House emails.
Thank you for being with me on this LELA House journey and for your shared excitement for what God is doing next.
I can’t wait!

What’s Your Focus?
Happy Monday! Happy March!
A new Monday in a new month is a great time to think about your focus. What is your focus today? How important is it?
For your journaling prompt today, answer those 2 questions. What is your focus today? How important is it?
If you find you’re focusing on something that isn’t important, take another shot.

Clarifying Values Workshop Tomorrow – 2/23/21!
I will be conducting a complimentary interactive workshop tomorrow at 11a PT/ 12p MT/ 1p CT/ 2p ET to help you clarify your values and create your own personal values statement.
Why create a personal values statement?
Having a personal values statement is a great way to make sure your current career and projects, as well as future opportunities, align with your core being. A personal values statement serves as a reminder of what is and is not negotiable in your life and a benchmark against which you can judge whatever comes your way.
Intrigued? To prep yourself for the workshop, or just as a good personal exercise, you can do a little journaling about your values. Today’s journaling prompt is to write down four characteristics you value and why.
I hope you can join me tomorrow!
